2008 July > Rawlins International Going to the Rawlins International Fun Fair was like walking back in time to one of those long ago school events - except this one seemed so much cooler. Stationed all around the school yard where booths representing different countries set up for kids of all ages to have fun exploring. There were yummy things to eat, face painters to colour up your cheeks and even a chance to swing a kendo sword at some poor unsuspecting balloons whose destiny, to bust under the great might of the sword swinger, was assured. Then came Kung Fu Form and Self-Defence demonstrations lead by the one and only Carey Stone from the Tiger & Dragon Arts Kung Fu dojo. Followed by the Axe Capoeira group who performed that amazing Afro-Brazilian art that combines dance, music, acrobatics with martial arts. It truly was a delight to sit in the grass surrounded by playful children, entertaining and educational displays of human grace, all the while basking in the healing warmth of the Sun.
