2008 July > Clinical Farm

"At first glance, the paintings that compose the exhibition Clinical Farm look like they could be photos or digital images. A closer look will reveal multiple glazes of paint, but the color combinations still seem to belong to the computer screen, where the works were actually composed before they were re-interpreted into paint. Together, the works form a sequence that has a rather strong, mysterious narrative aspect. We can see buildings surrounded by the woods in some paintings, portraits of mutant children in others... The title of the paintings suggest that we are dealing with some sort of a scientific complex: "Residence", "Dormitory", "Birth Lab", etc. Most likely, it is a private laboratory lost in the country, in which weird experiments on humans are happening. But we don't know what exactly, we would have to look inside those buildings to find out, and we're not allowed." said artist Nicolas Grenier
